So That’s What You Do With Your Time
If you follow this blog at all, you’ve no doubt noticed that my posts have been less frequent of late. This has been an unfortunate side effect of a number of exciting developments involving my band Midday Veil and the Portable Shrines collective that have been commanding my attention.
First, Midday Veil has a number of upcoming local shows including an instore performance at Wall of Sound Records on Sunday, August 23 at 5 p.m. and a performance at the Rendezvous Jewelbox Theater on Saturday, September 12 with Brother Raven, Sokai Stilhed, and Portland-based Mangled Bohemians.
Second, Portable Shrines is hard at work planning for the first (annual?) Escalator Festival, scheduled for September 25 and 26th in Seattle. The festival features a diverse lineup of mostly west-coast psych acts including Wooden Shjips, Eternal Tapestry, Lumerians, Jackie-O Motherfucker, Kinski, Backward Masks, Geist and the Sacred Ensemble, Story of Rats and yes, Midday Veil. Full lineup info is available on the Escalator Fest’s website, which will soon be the source for cheap advance tickets as well. For more information, visit the Portable Shrines blog, and check out the heady feature the incomparable aesthete Dave Segal wrote about the collective in the Stranger a few weeks back.
Finally, stay tuned for a number of rapidly unfolding developments on the horizon, including an upcoming EP, a vinyl release of End of Time, and holy-shit-a-west-coast-tour! with San Francisco songstress Janina Angel Bath (a.k.a. Sequin Trails) in November.
