Some Enchanted Evening

There are several magical things going on this evening in Belltown and Capitol Hill.  To get things started, the much-anticipated Cornish BFA show opens from 5 to 9.  Joey Veltkamp and Sharon Arnold have this one pretty well covered.

Next, an exhibition of drawings by artist Heidi Anderson at Cairo opens at 7, promising to put a spell on all who venture near.

At Nancy in Belltown, Seeking Axis Mundi, an exhibition of collages by local artist Steve Quenell (best known for his mind-warping album covers and rock fliers) opens from 6 to 9 p.m.

Next door at Fancy, Katherine Hepburn’s Voice will be giving a free concert at 8 p.m. That gives you exactly the right amount of time to grab a bite to eat and whatever else you need to get you through a night of experimental music and enchanted jams from my band Midday Veil at Night 4 of the Seattle Occultural Music Festival, which begins at 10 p.m. at the Rendezvous Jewel Box Theatre.  Yes, it’s true what they say:  this show WILL swallow you whole.  Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

There are four more great performances from SOMF through next Friday, May 15, including a set by (a) Story of Rats, the musical project of visual artist Garek Druss, currently in a group show at  PUNCH Gallery. Visit the festival website, somf.org, for full lineup details.

One Response to “Some Enchanted Evening”

  1. dear miss tracey,
    i choosed the first picture.
actually, this face surrounded by the trees where there is birds seems like a person looking for a freedom from allthe people that are making her cry it could parents or whole family and they are present in her tears which are surrounded by birds too and she needs to get them fly just to get her freedom and the colors (pink, green, blue, brown…) and the roses are like that it’s spring: the good weather, the good mood, the inna peace, the desire to fly and have an own life without them.
