Etsuko Ichikawa is a local glass artist with a longtime association with the Pilchuck Glass School. She has spent the past several years producing what she calls pyrographs: elegant, elusive drawings with smoke and fire on heavy paper.  The drawings are interesting, but watching her make them is magical.  Vimeo won’t let me embed their content in a WordPress blog (or vice versa?) but there is a great video from her recent exhibition at Bellevue Arts Museum here.

Etsuko has a current exhibition of work at Davidson Galleries.  She will be giving a talk in the gallery this afternoon, February 12 at 6 p.m.
