Opening Tonight

Several galleries in Pioneer Square have exhibitions opening tonight including:

Marie Watt: Portraits at Greg Kucera. Watt explores issues of history and connectivity with a series of conceptual sculptures and heartbreakingly beautiful embroidered blankets drawing in part on her heritage as a Seneca/Iroquois-American.

Marie Watt. Custodian, 2007. Reclaimed wool and thread, handsewn.

Richard Barnes: Animal Logic at Howard House. Richard Barnes’s behind-the-scenes photographs of natural history museums reveal the layers of artifice inherent in the acts of collection, preservation and display.

Richard Barnes. Giraffe (Academy of Science), 2005. C-print. Dimensions variable.

Claire Cowie: 12 Views at James Harris. Inspired by the landscapes of Hokusai, Cowie’s fragile sumi and watercolor worlds represent “a surreal hybridization of place and subject.”
